The Renwick Gallery

I spent this morning in the Renwick Gallery of American Art, which is conveniently right around the corner from where Chris works. I've seen the collection before, but there are a couple of pieces I really like, and the gallery is pretty sweet. I was enjoying the museum when I realized that I often think about how much I dislike Ohio, and I forget that there are cool buildings with art and culture in the U.S. Then I read that the Renwick Gallery is modeled after the Tuileries addition to the Louvre. So really, it's not a cool American building, it's an American copy of a cool French building. Go figure. But the art inside is American, and it's pretty awesome.

The Grand Staircase

It's a glass dress, hollow inside where the body would be.

A Feast made of Glass

A Fish made of Game Pieces
A Wooden Sculpture of a Clock covered in a Cloth

Now, get this: the cloth is made out of wood. The clock and the cloth are carved out of a block of wood, and the base is stained to look like wood, and the "cloth" is painted white.
