Arrival in Washington, D.C.

After my TSA fiasco yesterday, I got into D.C. pretty easily. The Southwest flight from Columbus to BWI was blissfully short. Two thirds of the trip is spent going either up or down; the plane only flies level with the ground for about twenty minutes in the middle. I enjoyed my customary plane drink of cran-apple juice, and I actually slept for most of the flight. When I landed I took the shuttle bus to the Amtrak/MARC station, and arrived just in time to catch the 12:57 train to Union Station:

I got lunch in Union Station, which is a giant food court with a really amazing variety of cuisines. Then I took the metro to McPherson Square and met Chris at work. I got a picture of her in her office:

When the leaves are off that tree, you can see the White House from Chris's window!

and one of her the sign for her building:

Since she's right by the White House, I walked over and sat for a while in the park in front of the White House:

That's all I have for you from yesterday. This isn't a touristy trip for me, since I've been to D.C. before and seen most of the important museums and monuments. I'm just enjoying spending time with my cousins.

Today we went to the National Portrait Gallery. We hung out in the atrium for a while, and Zoe loved the marble bench/planter thing. She was dancing and running around on top of it.
