After the Law Library Induction on Thursday, I went to the Natural History Museum in Oxford. I was too tired to spend more than an hour there, but I took a lot of pictures, and it's free, so I can go back as often as I feel like walking there.
The Natural History Museum has some really cool dinosaur bones:

There are even dinosaur footprints in the ground outside the museum! (replicas, but still cool)

Can you guess what these bones belong to?
Then, behind the Oxford Museum of Natural History, I found the Pitt Rivers Museum, which has anthropological displays of man-made objects organized by use, so one cabinet only contains bracelets, but from many different cultures. It's an interesting way of looking at things.

My Grammy used to have a cabinet like this
Finally, I went to an event hosted by the graduate students of St. Anne's. We went to Fire and Stone, which conveniently has a deal on Thursdays where all pizzas are 5 pounds. The menu is extensive and the pizzas are named for countries, so I finally decided on the Melbourne, which had
"Mozzarella, tomato sauce, brie, sweet roasted butternut squash and balsamic roasted red onions, topped with toasted pumpkin seeds." It was pretty good, but it could have used a bit more mozzarella and a little less brie.
The event itself was really fun, as I got to meet some actual Oxford students. I had a really good first week, but I'm looking forward to fewer scheduled and mandatory orientations and more free time next week. I don't want to do less, I just want to be able to choose what to do.
I take offense to your pizza needing less brie...just saying
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I wrote that. Even though my pizza needs less brie, my life needs more Aubrey. I miss you.
ReplyDelete5 pound pizzas? They must be HUGE!
ReplyDeleteOk, I had to get that joke in at least once. I'm done, I swear.
That pizza looks pretty tasty, though. I'm proud of you for not ordering chicken fingers and french fries :-P
I can't figure out how to add symbols to my blogs :-P
