Vienna, part 3

On Sunday I got up pretty tired and annoyed because after coming home relatively late, I’d lost another hour of sleep to daylight savings time. I packed up all of my stuff and headed back to Schloss Schönbrunn. This time I did a tour of the palace, which was pretty cool, but not quite as nice as Versailles. I bet Marie Antoinette was happy about the upgrade, since she grew up at Schönbrunn and moved to Versailles after she married that idiot Louis XVI, who managed to get them both guillotined. Also, they didn’t let me take photos inside Schönbrunn, so it was less fun than Versailles, although it did seem like there were a lot more rooms and the audioguide tracks were mercifully shorter. If you ever want to read some seriously weird stuff, read about Empress Maria Theresa and her wacky relationships with her many children. It seems like she didn’t even like most of them that much, but she married them off like crazy to some of the most important people in Europe. (read about Maria Theresa on Wikipedia here

After the palace I went to the Zoo and took pictures of the pandas. I wanted to see the sea lions at feeding time, but the crowds were too bad and I had a pretty decent sunburn headache. But the zoo was really cool, and the weather was absolutely awesome. I got sunburned in Europe in March! What a wonderful weekend!
