What happened to the King of Sweden...

I've been informed that I left out a bit of the end of the story of the Vasa.
Of the hundred-some people on board, only about thirty died. Luckily, they had not yet picked up the hundreds of soldiers who were to sail on board the ship. Unluckily, if they had picked up these soldiers, the ship might have balanced better and might not have sunk.

Luckily for the king, he was not on board, though he was furious when the ship sank, especially as it was probably his fault, as he was the one giving all the building orders. When the ship sank, naturally the people wanted someone to blame, and the king had sovereign immunity, so they tried to blame the captain. They said he had not properly secured the cannons and that he had let the crew get drunk. He swore that he had properly secured the cannons and that the crew had gone to church that morning, so they didn't have time to get drunk. So he blamed the ship-builder, which made everyone happy, because the ship-builder was dead, so he couldn't defend himself.

Poor Gustavus Adolphus died four years later. They say he might have been a major European power, if he had lived. He certainly had the mustache for it! If you want a giggle, google some Swedish kings. They had pretty intense mustaches!
