Copenhagen, Part 2

On Monday we finally purchased my train ticket to Sweden, which I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to buy on the internet since February. I would be able to accept that my credit card just won’t work online on a Swedish website, except that by some fluke Cindy’s credit card worked. We tried to buy mine with her credit card, but it didn't work again. Of course there were about ten steps to the ordering process, and I tried so many times that I could now order Swedish railway tickets in my sleep, if my credit card would actually allow me to purchase them. (or my debit card, or my other credit card)

I’d been warned that the Little Mermaid statue was a bit underwhelming, but it was a nice day, so we took a walk to the statue and enjoyed the sunshine and the pretty view of the water. We walked back via the Amalienburg palace, which really looks like it is named after me, but sadly probably isn’t. We timed our walk just right and got to see the Changing of the Guard. I love countries with monarchies! They just make for such interesting visits: crown jewels, changing of the guard, nice palaces, etc. I hadn’t realized before this trip how much the monarchies of Europe copied each other.

From above, this island is shaped like a star

A restaurant named after me?

Our final stop in Copenhagen was the Rundetaarn, or Round Tower. Built in 1637, this tower was originally used for astronomy, but today it is used for both a really good workout and a good view of the city.
