All the World's a Stage (but the Bodleian Library's an especially good one!)

The best photo I could get, as cameras were not allowed.

Tuesday night I saw the touring Shakespeare's Globe production of As You Like It in the courtyard of the Bodleian Library! It was completely awesome! Here's why:
  1. The actors were awesome! They could all sing, play instruments, and do complete costume changes in about fifteen seconds!
  2. The show was inside the Bodleian Library, which is one of the most impressive and ancient libraries in the world. I saw a play inside a library! At one point, Orlando actually leaned out one of the upper windows to call out his love for Rosalind.
  3. As You Like It is a really funny play, and Rosalind is a go-getter. You have to admire her for her spirit. Plus, she's the only female character who gets to deliver the epilogue to a Shakespeare play.
  4. Orlando writes love poems to Rosalind, and hangs them on all the trees in the forest. It's really sweet! (are you reading this, Andrew? I want some love poems :-)
  5. The Bodleian Library is in Oxford, which means that after the show, instead of spending two and a half hours getting home from London, I just walked home in under ten minutes. Glorious!

I've got big plans for the next few days. I'll be riding lots of trains and seeing lots of shows. Keep reading!
