The Longest Flight of my Life!

The flight from Sydney to LA was exactly as long as the one from LA to Auckland (13.5 hours), but it felt much longer. On the way to NZ, we'd both already been flying that day and our bodies thought it was nighttime, regardless of the actual time. Plus, there was a lot of extra room on the plane, so we each got two seats. We slept most of the flight, and Josephine kept exclaiming that it didn't seem like we could be in NZ after such an easy flight.
Today's flight was very different. For starters, it was completely full, so there was no room to stretch out, or even any place to rest my elbow. On top of that, our bodies were telling us it was daytime, so neither of us could sleep. So I watched movies. A lot of movies.
First I watched two episodes of Modern Family, then I watched the second half of Gnomeo and Juliet (I had watched the first half on the flight from Wellington to Melbourne). Then I watched two episodes of Hawaii Five-O, then The Adjustment Bureau, then three episodes of The Big Bang Theory, then The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, then Tangled, then Country Strong. All in all, that’s four and a half movies and seven tv episodes. I don't think I've ever watched that much tv in one sitting before. And please don't judge my taste in movies. Keep in mind that I had a limited selection to choose from. I thought if the flight had been much longer I was going to have to resort to seeing Unknown again. While it's a good movie, with Liam Neeson, it has a rather surprising ending, and I'm not sure it would be worth seeing a second time now that I already know the super secret plot twist.
I'm in LA now, in an airport hotel which (thank goodness!) let me check in at 8:30 am even though the check-in time is 3pm. I'm trying to catch up on some sleep, regardless of the time zones, since I'll be in a different one tomorrow anyway. I'd just like to feel as rested as I can. And if I get bored, the hotel room has a tv...
What's especially crazy about today's flight is that the flight departed at 10:30am on Thursday in Sydney, and landed in LA at 6:45am on Thursday, before we'd even left. Think about that one for a while...
